Lesson Plan

Novel Study: The Camel who crossed Australia

On 9 February 1861 Burke, Wills, King and Gray reached the Little Bynoe River, on the Flinders River delta where they could not reach the ocean because of the mangrove.

Find a latitude and longitude between this and their furthest point. Compose an email to world renowned mangrove researcher, Jock MacKenzie, with the coordinates and ask him to send you a photograph of the area and which species are evident in this area.

Contribute to a display with a small poster, including your photo, information received and further information you have researched to add depth to your poster.
