Day 2: Monday 7 May 2018

After a safety briefing we undertook a river cruise with Mick from Daintree River Cruises who has a great knowledge of the local area. We were introduced to a variety of mangroves and wildlife (crocodiles, snakes and birds). After lunch on the boat we clambered off the side into the dense mangroves.

Day 1-Sunday 6 May

After arrival in Cairns at 1pm, we met the other Earth Watch participants from over Australia. In total there are 10 people.
On the way to the Daintree we stopped in Mossman Gorge where we were welcomed with a smoking ceremony and tea and damper. This was followed by a Bush walk, through the beautiful rainforest. We were introduced to the history of the area and how the Indigenous tribes use the rainforest. I dipped my feet in the refreshing gorge to cool down. It was very hot and steamy.
