Koo Wee Rup Primary

Koo Wee Rup Primary School has an enrolment of just under 200 students. It is set in the township of Koo Wee Rup and provides a nurturing environment where safety and well-being are high priorities.

The school offers a range of support programs that operate both within and beyond the classroom. These include literacy intervention across all year levels and a maths extension program for senior students involving a partnership with the neighbouring secondary college.

The school motto of “Together We Learn” indicates recognition of the importance of school and family working in unison to ensure the best possible education for the children at Koo Wee Rup Primary School. The school believes that education begins at home, and that parents have a unique knowledge of their children. Parents are very welcome at the school. At Koo Wee Rup Primary School staff are committed to providing a high quality education for all children. The school's curriculum embraces the Key Learning Areas of English, Mathematics, Science, Health and Physical Education, Studies of Society and the Environment (SOSE), The Arts, Technology, Learning Technologies (eLearning) and Languages Other Than English (LOTE) – Italian language and culture. Policy and programs are consistent with recent educational research, present government policy and the relevant needs of students.

Koo Wee Rup Primary School currently involves students from Grades 3-6 in a Mangrove Restoration Project where students are responsible for growing mangrove seedlings from pods collected by Melbourne University. The students then visit various sites between Lang Lang and Jam Jerrup which front Westernport Bay to plant their seedlings and prevent erosion.
