About Mac.Robertson Girls High School

Unique in its status as a state-wide provider for girls (Years 9 to 12), The Mac.Robertson Girls' High School seeks to remain at the forefront of education for girls in Australia. An established State Secondary School situated in a central city location adjacent to the Albert Park Lake, it offers outstanding facilities for the delivery of its programs and is attended by students from a wide area of metropolitan Melbourne and beyond. The selective nature of entry results in a broad socio-economic and cultural mix, and a strong commitment to academic excellence. The school provides an educational experience which equips girls for tertiary study and leadership roles in the academic, professional and business communities, and develops interests and skills to enhance their personal lives.

The school values the traditions that have contributed to its success in the past while embracing the opportunities offered by the future. Students’ talents, efforts and achievements are rewarded in an environment which fosters mutual respect, personal integrity and strong sense of self-worth. True to its motto, "Potens Sui" (mastery of self), the school adheres to a code of conduct based on self-discipline and responsibility to oneself and others.

The school council, principal, staff, parents and students, both past and present, share a vision for the school in the twenty-first century and are committed to the provision of high quality teaching, learning and facilities to enable all students to reach their personal and academic potential.

EnvironmentMac.Rob is committed to a set of core values that genuinely permeate the life of the school and have a significant impact on the educational experience and achievement of our students. These values include:

Mac.Rob's principal, Dr Toni E. Meath writes that 'the Mac.Robertson Girls’ High School is a contemporary and generous school with strong future and global thinking where student voice is central to our core values. In essence, I see The Mac.Robertson Girls’ High School as a ’thinking’ school – one that is a trusted space where students can be themselves, love learning and aspire to academic excellence. We have a reputation as a world class learning environment with inspiring teachers where students develop a passion for learning, are empowered to synthesise the complexities of the world and to be creative, respectful and ethical citizens'.
