Flemington Primary School

Flemington Primary School was established in the current buildings and location 1922, and is situated in the quiet residential area of Travancore in inner Melbourne. The school is set back from the road behind majestic, heritage cast iron gates and the school oval. Situated in spacious grounds, the main, three storey red brick building overlooks a pleasant, treed and shaded courtyard flanked by a number of other buildings. The current student enrolment is 433 students with the majority of our students drawn from the immediate localites and the local government area of Moonee Valley.

Our guiding philosophy is based on equity of access and high expectations that all children will learn and achieve their full potential. We anticipate that all children will leave Flemington Primary School with a love of learning, a strong sense of self-worth, confidence, independence, and self-discipline. High expectations for learning and behaviour are linked to respect for the rights and responsibilities of all members of our community.

Interwoven with this philosophy and aims are the school values of Care & Compassion, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. Together with our focus on student wellbeing and the "You Can Do It!" principles of Confidence, Organisation, Persistence, Resilience and Getting Along with Others, students learn in a caring, safe and supportive community.

Flemington Primary School has a strong science focus and is increasing the environmental awareness of its community through our ongoing participation in the RACV Energy Breakthrough and the Model Solar Vehicle Challenge at Scienceworks Museum, the use of the science facilities at the neighbouring secondary school. We are a waterwise school, have received grants for watertanks and have recently installed solar panels. We participate in ride to school day, walk to school day, and promote rubbish free lunches across the school.
