Cavendish Primary School

Situated in south west Victoria, Cavendish Primary School sits deep in redgum country on the western side of the Grampians National Park. The school was established in 1852 and is the oldest school in Victoria still on its original site. The school has educated many generations of families and take pride in their community involvement.
Cavendish Primary presents a safe learning environment where a comprehensive curriculum supports the values of a positive work ethos, self discipline, cooperation, pride, respect and a sense of community. The school prides itself on “A rural tradition of excellence”. The Cavendish community prides itself on having a warm, friendly and accepting atmosphere within a safe, caring and stimulating environment.
Cavendish Primary utilises a team approach promoting participation by the whole school community - parents, staff and children. They provide a broad quality program - reflecting sound teaching practices with an emphasis on Literacy, Numeracy and ICT. A balanced integrated curriculum, with specialist programs and incorporation of ICT, effectively support and enhance students’ physical, social, personal, interpersonal, discipline based and interdisciplinary learning.
The school has an established environment centre that provides a kitchen garden for the 39 students. Regular gardening sessions often result in the home grown produce being used in a tasty cooking session.
The school's students are actively involved in a wide range of science based activities including tree planting, Saltwatch, Waterwatch and Landlearn.
