Wantirna College

Wantirna College is a single 7 – 12 campus situated in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, about 25 kilometres from the city centre, with approximately 1500 students and 130 staff. Wantirna College draws students from both local and surrounding primary schools. The College was founded in 1980 and consists of an extensive complex of well-maintained brick core buildings in an attractive garden setting spread throughout the spacious grounds with panoramic views of the Dandenong Ranges.
The Wantirna College vision is to help students become a Community of autonomous, life-long learners who actively contribute to their community and society. The college believes in providing students with the opportunity to contribute in building a sustainable future.
Wantirna College is conscious of its environmental impact. In 2009, the college achieved accreditation for the core module of the AuSSI VIC sustainable schools program. The campus has also obtained grants for water tanks and achieved the Knox Pride Award. Students are involved in the Knox Council Youth Environmental Summit, and those in the Environment Corps are involved in activities which highlight environmental issues and conservation concepts, as well as attaining a recognized training qualification. They also participate in environmental projects in the local community, within the College and in the Dandenong Ranges National Park with Parks Victoria staff.
