Lesson 6 - Nocturnal Animals
Aim: To discover and explore the specific advantages of nocturnal species
Materials: scissors, glue
Following on from Lesson 5, animals that are nocturnal (like bats) have additional characteristics which have helped them adapt to their environment and habitats.
Have a look at this website and find the definition of nocturnal
Bats have adapted to become excellent hunters in the night. Their physical changes, which give these advantages can often be obvious. Take a look at these species of bat and discuss what you believe they excel at, in terms of sensory awareness and hunting prey. All of these species are found in Malaysia.

When you have completed your discussion, this short activity will help you to remember or learn the physical parts of a bat's body. It is a short ‘cut & paste’ activity. I encourage you to use the picture below as a template, and use the morphological terms in the table. If you would like to have a reference picture for your work-tables or to project onto an Interactive Whiteboard, use this link.
