Rainforests Under Attack
Rainforests under attack
Goal 1: To understand the threats against Rainforests.
What you will need:
Textbook, a computer, your workbook.
Background:
Have a look at pages 236-237 of your textbooks. Use it and the activities below to reach your learning goal for this lesson.
What to do:
Task 1: Read the information on pages 236-237 of your textbooks.
- List the 3 major threats to the World’s Rainforests. Under each threat detail the following.
- Why do we need to undertake these activities?
- How is the activity threatening the rainforest?
- Who is benefiting from these activities?
- How much rainforest has been destroyed by this activity?
- Many rainforests are in developing countries. Why does this make the problem of rainforest destruction harder to solve?
Task 2: The pages you have read outline the three main causes of rainforest destruction, but there are many more. Use the links below (and others you may find) to determine the top 10 threats to the World’s Rainforests. Answer the questions in Task 1 for each threat.
