The Daintree Region

In this lesson, you will begin to compile information about the Daintree region. This data is readily available online and is from a trusted Australian Government Website; The Bureau of Meteorology. Links to the individual pages you will need are included on the page.

* Task -Use the information contained on the weather bureau site to construct a rainfall overlay for your Queensland base map. Use the drop down box on the left of the page to generate a 12 months data contour map.

* Task - Create an excel spread sheet with the data found here

Remember to use data for Cairns over the last 12 months when putting together your spread sheet.

The data to use for this task should include:

a) 12 months mean Maximum temperature

b) 12 months mean Minimum temperature

c) 12 months mean rainfall mm

d) 12 months mean number of daylight per day

* Task - Find 10 factual statements that you can draw from the line-graphs you have created and list them in a word document. Think about seasons and Cut and paste your graphs into the word document along with labels to explain what each graph shows and print/save them. Keep these printouts and the answers to the questions in this lesson with your map overlays.
