2010 Malaysian Bat Conservation
Welcome to our team of Victorian teachers, their students and schools to 2010 Earthwatch TeachLive.
Our Malaysian Bat Conservation team will help scientists determine which bat species will be most vulnerable to the threats of forest degradation and fragmentation and establish management plans designed to limit the impact upon them.
Team Two 1 - 14 May 2010

The teachers will spend two weeks in Krau Wildlife Reserve, Malaysia trekking the ancient rainforests in search of many different species of bats. They will be working alongside scientist Dr Tigga Kingston, from Texas Tech University, USA and her field staff from both Malaysia and the USA. Volunteers will be monitoring and measuring bat activity to understand the threats they face through degradation and fragmentation of forests.
During their Malaysian expedition they will teach live back to their schools via this website. Through lesson plans, daily highlights, daily photos and via the interactive forum students will be able to communicate with their teachers in real time every day.
The 2010 Earthwatch TeachLive program will provide teachers, schools and local communities in Victoria with a unique educational tool that enhances the teaching of science and engagement of students.
